Why Home Assistant if I already have the Tuya or eWeLink app?
Manufacturer apps work well as long as everything is from one brand and their servers are up. Home Assistant brings different brands together, allows more advanced automations — based on the inverter's battery level, for example — and runs them locally. If you only have a few relays from one brand and simple schedules, the brand's own app is enough, and we'll tell you so.
What happens if the internet or power goes out?
Without internet, local devices and automations carry on as usual; only control from outside the home and cloud-dependent devices become unavailable. To ride out power cuts, we run the server, router and coordinator from a UPS or inverter — the system keeps working and manages the load on its own.
Which server should I choose?
For a flat or a small house, Home Assistant Green — a ready-made device with the system preinstalled — is enough. With many devices or extra services, a mini PC is the better choice. A Raspberry Pi works too, but with an SSD instead of a memory card for reliability.
Can you connect a Deye inverter and an Ajax alarm?
Deye and many other inverters connect through local integrations — via a Wi-Fi logger or a cable, depending on the model. Ajax connects with limitations: you can usually see the arming state and alarms, but you won't get full control of every Ajax device. We'll tell you what is possible with your setup after the inspection.
I started setting it up myself, or someone else installed it. Can you take over?
Yes. We'll take the system on for maintenance and get it working properly: review the configuration, add devices, set up automations and backups. If a device itself is faulty, we'll arrange warranty or paid repair through a service centre.
Is there a subscription fee?
Home Assistant itself is free. For remote access there is an optional paid Home Assistant Cloud subscription, but you can do without it by using a VPN on your router. We'll discuss which suits you best when planning.
