In two years, the solar energy market in Ukraine has changed more significantly than in the previous ten. PERC panels, which were still the standard in 2023, have almost disappeared from price lists — they have been replaced by N-type TOPCon. The price per watt has fallen below 10 UAH. And the main buyer's motivation has shifted from «selling surplus energy at the green tariff» to «having light at home when there's no grid power». Therefore, in 2026, a typical home system is not a «grid-tied station», but a hybrid inverter + LiFePO4 battery + panels as a source of cheap energy during the day.
In this article — without advertising and «the best in the world»: what panel technologies are actually sold, how Deye, Solis, and Victron differ, how much a kilowatt-hour costs in a battery, and what we install for clients in Kyiv. All models are from our store, prices as of September 21, 2026 (tied to the exchange rate, so check on the product page).
1. Panel Technologies: What TOPCon, HJT, ABC, and Bifacial Mean
PERC (P-type) — 2015–2023 technology. Efficiency 20–21%, degradation up to 0.55% per year, noticeable power loss in the first year (LID). In 2026, PERC still appears in cheap «promotional» offers — it's not worth buying: the price difference with TOPCon is already 3–5%, and the difference in output over 25 years is 8–10%.
TOPCon (N-type) — 2026 standard. N-type silicon does not have boron-oxygen degradation, so manufacturers provide an 87–89% power warranty after 30 years. Module efficiency 22–23.5%, temperature coefficient −0.29…−0.30 %/°C (for PERC −0.34…−0.35%) — on a hot roof in July, this means 3–4% additional output. Almost all TOPCon panels are dual glass: there is no polymer backsheet that yellows and cracks, and the panel is bifacial — the rear side also generates (5–15% additionally on ground-mounted structures and light-colored roofs, almost nothing on dark metal tiles flush with the roof).
HJT (heterojunction) — Efficiency 23–24%, best temperature coefficient (−0.24 %/°C), but 10–15% more expensive and not widely represented on the Ukrainian market. Justified where every square meter of roof is at a premium.
ABC / back-contact (AIKO, Longi Hi-MO 9) — all contacts are moved to the rear side, the front surface is without a «grid» of busbars. Efficiency up to 24.5%, good aesthetics (fully black panel), and better performance in partial shading. This is a technology that, in 2027–2028, will likely replace TOPCon in the premium segment.
What is not a technology but is important: half-cut + MBB (half-cells and 16 thin busbars) — in all modern panels; hail protection class (2.0 mm glass on both sides withstands 35 mm hail according to IEC 61215); frame — black (LB/BB in marking) or silver, does not affect output, affects price by 2–3%.
2. Formats: 54 Cells for House Roofs, 72 for Large Areas
- 54-cell (108 half-cut), ~1.72 × 1.13 m, 430–470 W, 21–22 kg. Optimal for a private roof: one person can lift the panel, it fits between rafters, less wasted space on complex-shaped slopes. Voltage ~40 V — 8–12 pieces in a string per MPPT.
- 66-cell, ~2.38 × 1.13 m, 610–630 W and 72-cell, ~2.28 × 1.13 m (or 2.38), 580–660 W, 30–33 kg. Lower price per watt, but the panel is heavy and long — for large single-slope roofs, hangars, ground-mounted structures. Usually not worth it for a pitched roof of a house in Kyiv Oblast: space losses outweigh the price advantage.

What we install most often. For private roofs — JA Solar JAM54D40-465/LB: TOPCon, all-black, 25/30 years warranty, and JA Solar is a Tier 1 manufacturer (according to Bloomberg) that will definitely be on the market in 10 years when a warranty replacement is needed. For large roofs and ground installations — JAM72D42-640 as the cheapest watt. DAHsolar full-screen is an interesting option for snowy regions: without the frame protruding above the glass, snow and water drain completely, leaving no dirt along the bottom edge. AIKO ABC — when the facade appearance is important or there is partial shading from pipes or trees.
Don't forget the mounting in the budget: InstallKit set for one panel for metal tiles — 1 229 ₴, for bitumen roofing — 1 236 ₴; for 10 panels — plus 12–15 thousand грн with profile and clamps.
4. Hybrid Inverters: Deye, Solis, Victron, Dyness
A hybrid inverter simultaneously draws energy from panels, charges the battery, powers the house, and — most importantly for Ukraine — switches the house to battery power in 4–10 мс when the grid goes down. Computers, boiler, router do not notice this switch. For a house in Kyiv, the real choice is — single-phase low-voltage (48 В) models of 5–8 кВт; three-phase high-voltage — for houses with three-phase input and power over 10 кВт.
| Model | Power | Features | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Deye SUN-6K-SG06LP1-EU-BM2 | 6 kW, 1 phase, 48 V | 2025 generation, updated board and larger PV input; our basic choice for apartments and houses up to 150 m² | 43 116 ₴ |

| Deye SUN-8K-SG06LP1-EU-BM3 | 8 kW, 1 phase, 48 V | new 8 kW generation | 58 680 ₴ |
| Solis S6-EH1P6K-L-PLUS | 6 kW, 1 phase, 48 V | best price per kilowatt among tier-one brands, quiet, 5-year warranty | 38 992 ₴ |
| Solis S6-EH1P8K-L-PLUS | 8 kW, 1 phase, 48 V | the same for 8 kW | 55 413 ₴ |
| Dyness 6.0L-1P-A | 6 kW, 1 phase, 48 V | inverter from the battery manufacturer — guaranteed compatibility with Dyness DL5.0C | 42 750 ₴ |
| Victron MultiPlus-II 48/5000/70-50 | 5 kVA, 1 phase, 48 V | inverter-charger without MPPT (SmartSolar controller purchased separately); modular system, best for complex and marine/off-grid projects | 47 340 ₴ |
| Victron MultiPlus-II 48/3000/35-32 | 3 kVA, 1 phase, 48 V | minimal option "lights + router + refrigerator" | 33 602 ₴ |
| Deye SUN-20K-SG01HP3-EU-AM2 | 20 kW, 3 phases, high-voltage battery | for large houses and small businesses with three-phase input | 88 448 ₴ |
Deye or Solis? Both are tier-one manufacturers, both have service in Ukraine. Deye is the de facto standard of the Ukrainian market: the most compatible batteries, easiest to find a specialist to configure it, and best support for "non-standard" scenarios (generator, parallel operation, months of off-grid work). Solis is 15–20% cheaper at the same power and quieter, but the list of compatible batteries is shorter. Victron — a different philosophy: a constructor of separate blocks (inverter, MPPT, monitor) that is assembled for a specific task and lasts 15+ years, but costs 1.5 times more when assembled and requires qualified setup. We install Victron where there is a generator, multiple sources, and reliability requirements "like on a ship".
5. LiFePO4 Batteries: How Much Does a Kilowatt-Hour Cost
We do not consider lead-acid and AGM batteries for home backup power in 2026: 300–500 cycles versus 6,000 for LiFePO4 and 50% permissible discharge versus 90%. The real price per kWh over the entire service life for lead-acid is 4–5 times higher. Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) — does not burn, does not explode upon damage, operates from −10 to +50 °C (with heating — from −20).
| Model | Capacity | Price | ₴ per kWh | Availability |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dyness B4850 | 2.4 kWh (48 V, 50 Ah) | 19 768 ₴ | 8 240 | on order |
| Deye SE-G5.1 Pro-B | 5.12 kWh (51.2 V, 100 Ah) | 37 800 ₴ | 7 380 | on order |
| Dyness DL5.0C with heating and Wi-Fi | 5.12 kWh | 38 048 ₴ | 7 430 | on order |
| Deye BOS-G-Pack 5.1 | 5.12 kWh, 125 A | 41 450 ₴ | 8 100 | in stock |
| Merlion LiFePO4 48 V 100 Ah | 5.12 kWh | 51 480 ₴ | 10 050 | on order |
| Deye SE-F12 Max, IP65 | 11.8 kWh (230 Ah) | 89 700 ₴ | 7 600 | on order |
| Deye SE-F16 Max, IP65 | 16 kWh (314 Ah) | 108 000 ₴ | 6 720 | on order |
What to look for besides the price per kWh:
- CAN/RS485 compatibility with the inverter. The battery must "communicate" with the inverter: report charge, temperature, and allowed current. Deye + Deye, Dyness + Deye/Dyness, Merlion + Deye — tested connections. A battery without a protocol operates "blindly" and has a shorter lifespan.
- Discharge current. 100 A × 51.2 V = 5.1 kW — this is how much one SE-G5.1 battery can deliver. For an 8 kW inverter that will truly be loaded at 8 kW, two such batteries in parallel or a 125-amp BOS-G are needed.
- Where it will be located. Garage or unheated technical basement in winter — only with heating (Dyness DL5.0C "with heating") or in an IP65 enclosure (Deye SE-F12/F16 Max). LiFePO4 cannot be charged below 0 °C — the BMS will simply block charging.
- Warranty. Deye and Dyness — 10 years or 6,000 cycles; this means a daily full cycle for 16 years.
6. Three configurations we actually assemble
"Lights, internet, refrigerator" — apartment or small house
Deye 6 kW + one 5.12 kWh battery. Equipment ≈ 81,000 ₴. Without panels: charges from the grid when available. At an average load of 350 W (lights, router, TV, refrigerator), it lasts 12–13 hours; add a boiler — 8 hours. Panels can be added later, the inverter is ready for this.
"House with boiler, pump, and water heater"
Deye 8 kW + two 5.12 kWh batteries + 10 JA Solar 465 W panels (4.65 kW). Equipment ≈ 179,000 ₴ plus mounting and cable. In summer, such a house barely draws electricity from the grid during the day and has 10 kWh for the night; in winter, the batteries charge from the grid at a preferential night tariff and cover 8–10 hours of outages with heating.
"Maximum autonomy"
Deye 8 kW + Deye SE-F16 Max 16 kWh + 14 JA Solar 640 W panels (9 kW). Equipment ≈ 246,000 ₴. The house will live a day without the grid without even noticing, and the annual output of a 9 kW station in Kyiv Oblast is about 9,500 kWh, which means 30–40 thousand UAH in annual savings at the household tariff.
Calculate for your figures: battery autonomy calculator (how long it will last and what capacity is needed) and station payback calculator (output by region, savings, years).
7. What isn't written in price lists
- Protection. Between panels and inverter — DC disconnector, fuses, and surge protective device (SPD) for each string; between inverter and panel — circuit breaker and RCD type B or A. This is 5–8 thousand UAH, and this is exactly where cheap installations "save money".
- Grounding. Panel frames, mounting, and inverter must be grounded; for old houses with a TN-C system, this means rewiring the input. We check during the inspection.
- Grid connection. A hybrid inverter with the "zero export" function can be switched on without agreement with the regional power company; selling surpluses (net billing) — only after registering a bidirectional meter. In 2026, this rarely makes sense for a home: the buyback price is lower than the purchase tariff, it's more profitable to consume yourself and accumulate.
- Roof. The rafter system must withstand +15 kg/m² plus wind load on the panels; we do not install on slate and old bitumen without roof repair.
- Warranty. For works — 1 year, for equipment — from the manufacturer (panels 25–30 years, inverters 5–10, batteries 10).
Frequently Asked Questions
Are panels needed if I'm only interested in backup during outages? No. Inverter + battery operate from the grid. But at panel prices of 9–10 UAH/W, each kilowatt of the station pays for itself in 6–8 years and extends daytime autonomy indefinitely — so we recommend at least preparing the cable to the roof.
How long does a 5 kWh battery last? At an average load of 350 W — 12 hours, at 1 kW (with boiler and pump) — about 4.5 hours. Exactly — in the calculator.
What's better: one 16 kWh battery or three 5 kWh ones? One large one is cheaper per kWh and takes up less space; three small ones provide a higher discharge current and redundancy in case one fails. For an 8-kilowatt inverter without panels, we more often install two or three 5.12 kWh batteries.
Can an inverter be installed in an apartment? Yes, a 6-kilowatt Deye is the size of a gas boiler, noise up to 30 dB. A 5.12 kWh battery is 45 kg, placed on the floor in a pantry or on a balcony (with heating or in an insulated cabinet).
What's next
We design and install backup power systems and solar stations in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast since 2012. Site inspection and cost estimation — Kyiv from 1,500 ₴, Oblast from 2,000 ₴; when ordering works, this amount is credited towards the installation cost. Details — on the backup power and solar stations pages, equipment — in the "Energy" section of the store.
